PHILOSOPHY & VISION
World peace
through education.
We are building a new education infrastructure that stands alongside schools, towards a world where anyone, anywhere, can receive a rich education. We are reconnecting children’s learning, the role of teachers and the gateway into society, starting with the systems behind them.
confined to schools.
WHY PEACE STARTS WITH EDUCATION
Education is
the infrastructure of peace.
out of school worldwide
needed worldwide by 2030
THE FUTURE WE BUILD
Three futures
we are building.
Changing children’s learning alone will not fully change education. The systems that deliver learning, the definition of a teacher and the yardstick society uses to judge people: we are updating all three at once.
Freeing children’s learning
from place.
Even if they cannot go to school, and wherever they are, children can receive a rich education full of dialogue and social connection.
Teachers are not defined
by qualifications alone.
A teacher is someone who commits to children’s agency and connects self, learning and society.
The gateway into society
is more than exam scores.
Non-cognitive skills and real-world practice lead to new paths and new work.
THREE INFRASTRUCTURES
Turning the future
into systems.
Ideals alone do not change society. NIJIN has already begun putting them into practice in Japan, shaping the next education infrastructure together with children, teachers, companies and local governments.
Making public education
portable.
A rich education wherever you are, equal to school or better.
Basic academic skills, friendships, physical activity, and deep learning through dialogue: we deliver what schools have always provided, without being tied to a place. Moving between online and in-person settings, NIJIN is creating an education in which children make their own choices, connect with society and take on challenges.
Even through a screen, what we value most is dialogue and communication. This is not “education you watch as a stream”. It is education in which people engage with one another, and that is why it can carry learning to the world.
we have taught so far
to suit each place and situation
Teaching:
from a profession to a role.
We define teachers not only by whether they hold a licence, but by what they can promise children.
The teacher shortage is growing more serious around the world. What is needed is to support today’s teachers and, at the same time, to widen the answer to “who can become a teacher?”. People from the private sector and local citizens can also give their expertise and life experience back to education. NIJIN aims for an education in which these “citizen teachers” can thrive.
Beyond that, we are working towards a teacher development platform where teachers can learn from first-rate lessons at any time, AI assists with observation and feedback, and the quality of lessons becomes visible. We are building systems in which teachers are never isolated and can keep learning.
A teacher is someone who commits to children’s agency and connects their true self, learning and society.

Two places where teachers keep learning
Another path,
beyond exam scores.
Not rejecting academic credentials, but opening more doors through which a person’s worth can be seen.
Academic credentials and written tests alone cannot measure the ability to work with others, to take on challenges or to make people happy. Our CEO, Hoshino, has been involved in recruitment screening for more than 2,500 candidates, and that experience also shows the limits of predicting how someone will perform from academic background alone.
That is why NIJIN makes non-cognitive skills and real-world co-creation visible, and turns encounters with companies and communities into new paths forward. We are building a society in which people are valued not for exam scores or credentials, but for what they care about and what they have created, and with whom.

OUR DNA
Everything we do starts
from this belief.
Before changing education, we first believe in people’s potential. This is the philosophy that runs through NIJIN’s businesses, organisation and decisions.
Light up the world through education.
We will create a world in which every child can express their individuality and abilities, feel pride and hope in the country where they were born and raised, and live happily while making others happy. By transforming existing education and creating new forms of it, we will bring about a society in which people can have hope in education.
Everyone has the power to be happy and the power to make others happy.
People are born to be happy and live to make others happy. We believe in the power every person has, and we commit to it.
Don’t blame people. Build systems.
No problem is one person’s fault. That is why, before blaming anyone, we review the system and rebuild education.
People who believe positively in themselves and the world, and who make others happy
Believe in your own potential and in the potential of others. From that trust, challenge and co-creation begin.
ACTION GUIDELINES
From philosophy
to everyday action.
These are our commitments for carrying the philosophy into meetings, business building, relationships with colleagues and everyday decisions, so that it never ends as fine words.
Live the philosophy
Our work, our dealings, our team and each of us all stand on the philosophy.
Propose happiness
We do not just get work done. We decide whom we will make happy, and we propose happiness to them.
Always ask why
We keep asking why we are doing something and whom it will make happy, and that is how we create value.
See all eight of NIJIN’s guiding principles
Our work, our dealings, our team and each of us all stand on the philosophy.
We do not just get work done. We decide whom we will make happy, and we propose happiness to them.
We do not compare ourselves with others or try to match those around us. We create new value from our differences.
We choose words and actions we would be glad for anyone to see at any time, and we do everything in the open.
Unafraid of change, we keep taking on challenges as a new self each day.
We take pride in rejections and unsuccessful applications as proof that we tried, and turn them into the next step.
Starting from a real understanding of the people we serve, we argue in earnest, in both concrete and abstract terms, about how to move towards our philosophy.
We keep asking why we are doing something and whom it will make happy, and that is how we create value.
BUSINESS TARGETS
Business goals and
strategy
Concrete numerical targets and approaches for making our vision real. We will create a society in which people can have hope in education, not on paper but in practice.
A world where education can be chosen
and 2,000 campuses
We will build overwhelming scale in Japan, with annual revenue of JPY 30 billion, 30,000 students and 2,000 campuses, and become a nationally recognised educational option that stands alongside school.
For every child in the world
to the world.
With outstanding teaching strength as our edge, we will take a “YouTube for live lessons” to the world. In 2027 we will open an online international school for Asia.
Making private education part of the education infrastructure
JPY 150 billion
We will end the divide between public and private education. In time, we will set up an education fund on the scale of JPY 150 billion and remove inequality of opportunity at the level of the system.
Five areas we are strengthening to get there
The quality of education is decided by its teachers. We are bringing in our book “Nijin no Kyoiku” (on NIJIN’s approach to education), AI-based lesson evaluation and training programmes, to develop teachers across Japan who can commit to children’s agency.
Our dedicated engineers ship at high speed every week. We are taking on the building of an in-school learning platform, a school administration support system and an assessment system for non-cognitive skills.
Japanese education, to the world. We are advancing our global expansion through international collaboration, overseas accelerators and trade fairs, hosting interns from abroad and making English-language meetings part of everyday work.
Attracting and developing business leaders who will drive change. We are making our vision transparent and welcoming people who combine a teacher’s perspective with a business one.
Alongside expanding our existing businesses, we are launching new education infrastructure: an after-school business, an online international school, a YouTube for live lessons, an online Japanese language school, a physical activity business and more.
ROADMAP
From Japan to the world.
Education as the infrastructure of peace.
Establish a new model of compulsory education in Japan, then deliver it across borders through online learning and technology. This is the path NIJIN sees for growing education into shared infrastructure for the world.
Laying the groundwork for a new education infrastructure in Japan.
- Reach 1,000 students and 100 campuses in Japan, and establish self-sustaining operations led by the teams on the ground
- Start developing AI-based lesson evaluation and an assessment system for non-cognitive skills
- Expand teacher training and teacher communities, strengthening the foundation for developing teachers who keep learning
- Put in place the people, technology and partnerships that will support international expansion
Establishing systems that carry learning across borders.
- Establish the business foundations of Tomodachi Japan, our online Japanese language school, and NIJIN GLOBAL ACADEMY, our online international school
- Take the teaching strength and online education model developed in Japan to Asia and the rest of the world
- Bring AI lesson evaluation and the non-cognitive skills assessment system into classrooms
- Build the organisation to deliver education across borders together with international talent and local partners
From Japan’s number one compulsory education institution to education infrastructure for the world.
- Aim to become the compulsory education institution most often chosen in Japan by children, parents and society
- Connect the education model established in Japan with the world, developing it into learning that does not depend on place or nationality
- Build the foundation for delivering first-rate lessons, teacher development and assessment systems to the world online
- Establish a new education ecosystem that spreads education around the world as the infrastructure of peace
* Year-by-year plans will be updated in line with the business environment and progress in implementation.
BUILD THE FUTURE TOGETHER
The future of education
is something we build together.
No single company and no single person can turn education into infrastructure for the world. Companies, local governments, schools, communities and every individual with a sense of purpose: each brings their own position, expertise and experience, and together we create the next education.
Take part in the future of education, from where you stand.
For companies
Together we design new businesses, educational co-creation, projects with children, training and solutions to social issues.
